In many countries around the world, employee turnover is a major issue. It is, in reality, a worldwide phenomenon. Human resource professionals and practitioners are paying close attention to this issue. Employers who want to investigate the causes of turnover or estimate the cost-to-hire for budgeting purposes can use turnover measurement. The rate at which an employer loses employees is referred to as turnover, staff turnover, or labor turnover in the context of human resource management. It denotes the average length of stay for employees.

Individual enterprises and their industries' turnover are both measured. Employees in a company with a high turnover rate in comparison to its competitors have a shorter average tenure than employees at other companies in the same industry. If skilled professionals are frequently leaving and the working pool has a large percentage of apprentice workers, excessive turnover can be detrimental to a company's production.

What Factors Influence Employee Turnover?

Employees leave a department or an organization for a variety of reasons, and while some of these causes are unpleasant, some turnover is expected and natural. What’s worrisome is when turnover happens because of unfavorable circumstances and at an unusually fast rate. The following are some of the most typical reasons for employee turnover:

ü A lack of opportunities for advancement or advancement in one's profession

ü Career advancement is a natural process.

ü Promotion or transfer within the company

ü Burnout or feeling overworked

ü Feelings of resentment toward your boss or management

Types / Forms of Turnover

Turnover can take many different shapes. It's either "internal" or "external" in nature.

Methods for Reducing or Preventing Employee Turnover

1. Employees are critical to the success of a company; without them, the company would fail. Today's companies, on the other hand, are discovering that employees do not stay with the same company for long periods.

2. Companies should optimize the return on their investment in each employee when they hire the best talented personnel.

3. They should devote a significant amount of time to listening to employees' concerns and making them feel included since this will foster loyalty and reduce turnover, allowing for growth.
