Interviewing is a crucial phase in the hiring process. The interview, if done correctly, allows the employer to assess whether an applicant's abilities, experience, and personality match the job's requirements. It also aids the employer in determining whether or not a candidate would be a good fit for the company's culture. Furthermore, preparing for an interview might assist in clarifying the responsibilities of a position.

Furthermore, to the degree that the interview process results in the employment of the best candidate, it can assist keep the organization's long-term turnover costs under control. An effective interview also benefits applicants since it allows them to decide whether their work demands and interests are likely to be met.

How to plan and execute a successful interview?

A successful interview should be planned and conducted by the manager. All prospective applicants are subjected to a structured situational interview, which consists of a series of questions with current responses. The procedures in constructing a structured situational interview include analyzing the job, evaluating the job's major functions, generating interview questions, creating benchmark answers, appointing the interview panel, and conducting interviews.

After you've vetted possible job prospects, you'll need to organize interviews with the people on your shortlist. The employment interview's five primary goals are to:

ü Obtain pertinent information on the contender.

ü To the candidate, describe the job and the requirements.

ü Examine the candidate's "fit."

ü Provide information about your company and its culture to the candidate.

ü Respond to any queries the candidate may have.

 

Choosing the questions for the interview

Keep the following two categories of interview questions in mind:

 

 

1. Questions with a specific focus on facts that are closed-ended or direct.

2. Questions with no clear answer that fall under one of the following categories:

ü Hypothetical—that is, hypothetical queries about a hypothetical situation.

ü Behavioral—questions that require the candidate to describe past behavior in a real-life context.

The most significant questions will be open-ended ones, which allow you to analyze the candidate's capacity to communicate in a non-structured manner. This can allow you to delve into a variety of crucial areas of the person's background and abilities.
